The Gifts of Imperfection Programme (September- November 2021)

The Gifts of Imperfection programme, based on the bestselling book by Dr Brené Brown, is about learning to be wholehearted – which is to engage with the world from a place of worthiness. Our authentic journey is about moving from “What will people think?” to “I am imperfect and I am enough.”
This programme is led by Ade Adeniji and Darren Brady, Certified Daring Way™ and Dare to Lead™ Facilitators. The programme is an opportunity to cultivate skills and practice the habits required to embody our authenticity day-by-day. The programme spans 10 weeks and comprises of an in-person session, at the beginning, followed by 6 online sessions. The periods in between sessions is an opportunity to integrate and practice insights and tools from the course.
The Gifts of Imperfection programme comprises 12 lessons:
Lesson One | Courage, Compassion, and Connection: Tools for the Wholehearted Journey
- Learning intention: ‘I will carry courage, compassion, and connection in my heart while on this journey’
Lesson Two| Guidepost #1 – Cultivating Authenticity: Letting Go of What People Think
- Learning intention: ‘We’re never more courageous than when we’re willing to be vulnerable, to be imperfect, and to set boundaries.’
Lesson Three | Guidepost #2 – Cultivating Self-Compassion: Letting Go of Perfectionism
- Learning intention: ‘I will talk to myself the same way I talk to the people I love.’
Lesson Four | Guidepost #3 – Cultivating a Resilient Spirit: Letting Go of Numbing and Powerlessness
- Learning intention: ‘I’m going to lean in and feel it all.’
Lesson Five | Guidepost #4 – Cultivating Gratitude and Joy: Letting Go of Scarcity and Fear of the Dark
- Learning intention: ‘I will practice gratitude to find joy.’
Lesson Six | Guidepost #5 – Cultivating Intuition and Trusting Faith: Letting Go of the Need for Certainty
- Lesson learning intention: ‘I will listen and trust myself.’
Lesson Seven | Guidepost #6 – Cultivating Creativity: Letting Go of Comparison
- Learning intention: ‘I am a creative being’.
Lesson Eight | Guidepost #7 – Cultivating Play and Rest: Letting Go of Exhaustion as a Status Symbol and Productivity as Self Worth
- Learning intention: ‘I will honour the basic need for play and rest.’
Lesson Nine | Guidepost #8 – Cultivating Calm and Stillness: Letting Go of Anxiety as a Lifestyle
- Learning intention: ‘I want to heal with calm, so I will practice calm.’
Lesson Ten | Guidepost #9 – Cultivating Meaningful Work: Letting Go of Self-Doubt and “Supposed To”
- Learning intention: ‘I will own my superpowers.’
Lesson Eleven | Guidepost #10 – Cultivating Laughter, Song, and Dance: Letting Go of Being Cool and “Always in Control”
- Learning intention: ‘Trying to be cool is an emotional straightjacket. I am going to take it off.’
Lesson Twelve | The Wholehearted Revolution
- Learning intention: ‘My story matters because I matter.’
Timetable
The programme will be a combination of one in-person and five online (using the Zoom platform) sessions.
Saturday 18th September: 1030 – 1730 BST (In Person)

Tuesday 28th September: 1900 – 2100 BST (Online)

[Participants are required to attend all sessions – depending on group agreement, there may be flexibility to move some of the dates)
This is a mixed gender program open to all
Format
The course will involve creative workbook activities, sharing experiences, self-inquiry, artwork, journalling, coaching and readings from the ‘Gifts of Imperfection’ (pre, during and post sessions).
At the end of each session, there will be DIG Deep Commitments (Get Deliberate; Get Inspired; Get Going) set by each participant and put into practice before the next session.
There will be a weekly prompt from the facilitators setting a reflective practice for the week.
The group will be limited to a maximum of 12 people.
Participant Materials
- You will need to obtain a copy of the Gifts of Imperfection.
- You will be provided with the Gifts of Imperfection workbook.
- We will provide the art supplies you need for the in-person session, you’ll need to obtain supplies for the remaining sessions.
